PROJECT-240SX

Over 100,000 Miles, an automatic transmission and darn good paint makes an adequate starting point for our new daily driver project.

Our mission with Project-SX was simple.  Build a fast reliable daily driver.  Sounds simple enough.  But here is the catch:  We don't want the car to have any down time because Craig Blood uses this car as a daily driver. So every modification has to be completed in a realistic time frame.  No major overhauls that only a speed shop can afford to do.  No million dollar parts that nobody can afford.   This means anyone can afford to have done whatever you see here, if you want it bad enough.

The SE model came with white face guages which was nice.

Owner Craig Blood hangs with fast company so he sure is motivated to make this car fast.

This Japanese 1995 S14 front clip housesthe SR20 DET motor. A 200+ HP aluminun block turbo 2-liter. Buying the entire clip saves money.

We are considering using the clip to help convert to right-hand drive. What do you think? Email us with your input. bloodent@comcast.net

Still debating whether to use this motor. Perhaps a well done KA24 powerplant can produce more power than the coveted SR20. Stay tuned to find out!

SE models have real 5 bolt hubs. Which we like.

18" wheels with good Toyo tires make a huge difference is appearance and handling. Now stay tuned for our big brake installation.

Newly available 16 way adjustable Tokico shocks will help in the turns.

Our baseline dyno run yielded 115hp at the rear wheels through the cars automatic transmission.  Well, we certainly can get more out of this 100,000 mile KA24 Motor.

Our baseline 1/4 mile was done with new tires and achieved a humble 17.44 sec @ 78.7mph

Modifications not pictured but complete include:

Limited slip differential (LSD)

Aluminum under-drive pulley (4.5lb lighter than stock!)

Stainless exhaust with magnaflow muffler

Standard tune-up

Electronic modifications to improve consistency (sorry trade secret)

Yes we're still using the automatic

Initial performance: 16.79sec 1/4 mile at 81.3mph.

 SR20 motor and 5-speed installation:  14.60sec 1/4 mile at 103mph

More power will come after some computer work on  Nissan's fuel map.
